A Rich Legacy of Music and Community: The Bryan City Band
Founded in 1852 by John Connin and Charles Arnold, the Bryan City Band has been a constant source of entertainment and pride for our town. From its early days as the main event in Bryan to its role in significant moments like the 1900 funeral of President William McKinley, the band’s history is deeply intertwined with the town’s story.
Join us at the Amphitheater for this special concert away from the bandstand.
A Social Tradition: Saturday night concerts were once the highlight of town life, bringing people together to celebrate music and community.
A Journey of Musical Discovery: Early band members came from diverse backgrounds, with many learning their instruments through the band itself. The Brass Band Movement played a significant role in shaping the band’s unique sound.
Today’s Tradition: Every Wednesday night in June and July, the Bryan City Band continues its rich tradition with performances on the courthouse square, bringing joy to all who attend.
As one of the oldest bands in America, the Bryan City Band is truly a treasure for our community. Join us for a performance and be part of this historical musical legacy!
