Carrie Schlade - Mayor

Mayor Carrie Schlade began her term January 1, 2018. Carrie is a graduate of Ayersville High School and Northwest State Community College. She has a background in paralegal work, community volunteering and managing political campaigns locally. Carrie was elected to Bryan City Council in November 2015, then Bryan City Mayor in November 2017. She is a past member of Bryan City Schools PTO, Bryan Planning and Zoning Commission, Bryan Community Reinvestment Area Board and former President of Bryan Soccer Association. She is the current Treasurer/Secretary for the Williams County Republican Central Committee, Junior Achievement of Williams County Board Member and a member of Bryan Civic League. Carrie is married to Dr. Joshua Schlade and they have 3 children, Lillian, Elijah and Emma. The Schlade’s are members of Trinity Lutheran Church. Mary Leatheman - Ward 1

 Mary began her term on January 1, 2018. Mary is a graduate of Edgerton High School. Mary has been a resident of Bryan for almost 30 years.
Mary is a past president of the Bryan Kiwanis Club and the 2018 President of the Bryan Area Chamber of Commerce. Mary is currently employed at Elwood Staffing Services in Bryan since December 2011. Richard Hupe - Ward 2

 

Rick began his term with an appointment to Ward 2 on March 4, 2013. He has been a Bryan resident for more than twenty-five years. A member of Four County Career Center Endowment Committee , and member of the Bryan Historic Homes Association, Rick and his family attend St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bryan.

Rick is married to Christina, a teacher in Montpelier and they have two sons, Bryson and Ethan. A former business owner, Rick currently is an administrator at Four County Career Center where he supervises courses involving manufacturing, public safety and automotive technologies. Rick currently works closely with business and industry both in his job and as a member the Northwest Ohio Development Consortium. Rick can be reached at ward2@cityofbryan.com
 

 

 

John Betts - Ward 3

Feroen John Betts assumed council responsibilities in January 2018. John earned a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from Bluffton University, a Masters degree in Rehabilitation Counseling from Bowling Green State University, and a Ph.D (all but the dissertation) in Psycho-Physiology from the University of Toledo. Before retiring from Harbor Behavioral Healthcare as a Vice President in 2017, John spent 43 years working in the social services and healthcare industry, the majority of which was spent in administration. John serves as the President of the David Betts Double Play Diamond Board of Directors, is a member of the Black Swamp Benefit Board, and is a volunteer mediator with the Shalom Counseling and Mediation Center's Victim Offender Reconciliation Program. John has spent most of his life in Bryan, where he and his wife, Joy, raised their four children: Rachel, Sarah, David and Jacob. John and Joy are members of the Zion Mennonite Church in Archbold. Judy Yahraus - Ward 4

One of the newer members of Bryan City Council, Judy began her term in January of 2016.  She has lived in Bryan since she was in the second grade.  For 56 years she was married to her husband, Bill, who passed away in 2013.  They have three sons: Brad (Sherry), Jeff (Jane), and Dan (Dottie); with nine grandchildren and three great grandchildren.  Judy has been a piano teacher in Bryan for 49 years and an organist at some Bryan Churches.  She is currently volunteering as organist at The First Church of Christ, where she is a member. Lynn Wieland - At Large

Lynn began his term on January 11, 2018. He has been a lifelong resident of Bryan and is currently Vice President – Operations at Spangler Candy Company. He is a past board member of the United Way of Williams County and is currently secretary for the National AACT (American Association of Candy Technologists).
Lynn is married to Theresa, a secretary at Bryan City Schools and they have two sons, Andrew (Laura) and Austin (Meaghan). They have two grandchildren, Ryann and Claire. Lynn and his family attend St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Bryan. Lynn can be reached at atlarge@cityofbryan.com
